Individual Awards

Nominees for the BDM of the Year award will have worked as a BDM for at least ONE year, and will already be making strides in their sector, building strong relationships with brokers and contributing to the growth of their business. They will be forward thinking, inclusive and encompass what it means to be the face of the lender within the intermediary market in Scotland.

Nominees for the Business Leader of the Year award (Lender) will be an individual who currently leads a team or a business within the Scottish lending space. They will be able to demonstrate how their leadership style has directly impacted business growth over the past 12 months.

Nominees for the Business Leader of the Year award (Broker) will be an individual who currently leads a team or a business within the Scottish intermediary space. They will be able to demonstrate how their leadership style has directly impacted business growth over the past 12 months.

Our Lifetime Achievement winner will be someone who is acknowledged by our industry experts as an irreplaceable cog in the Scottish mortgage industry machine. They will have devoted themselves to the mortgage sector for a significant period of time, and made a undeniable positive change to the market within Scotland.

This award recognizes an outstanding female and non-binary trailblazer, in any facet of the mortgage industry, whose astounding personal and professional achievements have earned them a place among the industry’s best.

This award recognizes an outstanding broker who is 40 years old or younger, as of December 31, 2023.

The Rising Star of the Year (Broker) award for brokers celebrates the future of the intermediary. Nominees will have worked as an adviser for 3 years or less, and will already be making strides in their sector, building strong relationships with clients and lenders and contributing to the growth of their business. They will be forward thinking, inclusive and encompass what it means to be the future of the UK specialist finance and mortgage industry.

Organizational Awards

This category is open to all broker firms (of any size) operating within the Aberdeen/North area. The winner of Best Broker of the Year (Regional – Aberdeen/North) will be a firm which specialises in the region and has a deep understanding of the unique opportunities it provides. Nominees should be able to explain how possessing exceptional industry experience and knowledge while providing a seamless and personable customer service experience has contributed to business growth over the past 12 months.

This category is open to all broker firms (of any size) operating within the Dunfries & Borders area. The winner of Best Broker of the Year (Regional – Dumfries & Borders) will be a firm which specialises in the region and has a deep understanding of the unique opportunities it provides. Nominees should be able to explain how possessing exceptional industry experience and knowledge while providing a seamless and personable customer service experience has contributed to business growth over the past 12 months.

This category is open to all broker firms (of any size) operating within the Dundee & Fife area. The winner of Best Broker of the Year (Regional – Dundee & Fife) will be a firm which specialises in the region and has a deep understanding of the unique opportunities it provides. Nominees should be able to explain how possessing exceptional industry experience and knowledge while providing a seamless and personable customer service experience has contributed to business growth over the past 12 months.

This category is open to all broker firms (of any size) operating within the Highlands & Islands area. The winner of Best Broker of the Year (Regional – Highlands & Islands) will be a firm which specialises in the region and has a deep understanding of the unique opportunities it provides. Nominees should be able to explain how possessing exceptional industry experience and knowledge while providing a seamless and personable customer service experience has contributed to business growth over the past 12 months.

This category is open to all broker firms (of any size) operating within the Edinburgh area. The winner of Best Broker of the Year (Regional – Edinburgh) will be a firm which specialises in the region and has a deep understanding of the unique opportunities it provides. Nominees should be able to explain how possessing exceptional industry experience and knowledge while providing a seamless and personable customer service experience has contributed to business growth over the past 12 months.

This category is open to all broker firms (of any size) operating within the Glasgow area. The winner of Best Broker of the Year (Regional – Glasgow) will be a firm which specialises in the region and has a deep understanding of the unique opportunities it provides. Nominees should be able to explain how possessing exceptional industry experience and knowledge while providing a seamless and personable customer service experience has contributed to business growth over the past 12 months.

This category is open to all broker firms (of any size) operating within the Perth/Stirling/Falkirk (Central Region) area. The winner of Best Broker of the Year (Regional – Perth/Stirling/Falkirk (Central Region)) will be a firm which specialises in the region and has a deep understanding of the unique opportunities it provides. Nominees should be able to explain how possessing exceptional industry experience and knowledge while providing a seamless and personable customer service experience has contributed to business growth over the past 12 months.

Having already located the cream of the broking crop in each region across Scotland, the winners in those categories will go head-to-head in the Best Overall Broker in Scotland category. Only the winners from each of the seven regions will be considered for the Best Overall Broker in Scotland crown.

The Specialist Lender of the Year award is open to lenders operating in Scotland who can demonstrate that a significant portion of their business is dedicated to specialist lending. The winner will offer a competitive and flexible product portfolio covering a range of specialist finance solutions and have a proven track record of working with brokers who serve clients with complex incomes.

Later Life Lender of the Year nominees should be able to demonstrate that a significant portion of their business is dedicated to delivering mortgages and financial solutions to homeowners aged 55 or over in Scotland. The winner of this category will offer a diverse and creative product portfolio as well as being able to provide intermediaries with the innovative tools and technology they need to give their clients peace of mind for the future.

The winner of the building society of the Year award will consistently have the best broker and customer outcomes in mind and this will be reflected in the growth of the business over the past 12 months. Nominees should be able to explain how their investment in technology, people, products and processes contribute to servicing the mortgage market in Scotland.

Nominees of Distributor of the Year award will work closely with both lenders and intermediaries in Scotland to consistently deliver the best mortgage products and rates for the end clients’ specific circumstances. The winner of this category will be a business which regularly executes a competitive speed of delivery; offers total transparency to intermediaries and provides a relationship-based service, all of which will have contributed to business growth over the past 12 months.

The winner of Surveyor of the Year will be the Surveying or Valuation firm, operating in Scotland, which provides a consistently high-quality offering, excellent communication skills, accurate valuations, clear and concise reports and a quick and efficient service.

General Insurance Provider of the Year nominees must offer a flexible and highly competitive product portfolio which enables intermediaries to protect their clients while placing business quickly and profitably. This category is open to all general insurance providers who are able to demonstrate business growth in sales and explain how their products and services are driving the sector forward in Scotland.

This category is open to all protection providers who are able to demonstrate business growth in sales and explain how their products and services are driving the sector forward in Scotland.

This award is open to all brokerage that was established in the last 24 months. This brokerage will have a reputation for excellence, significantly contributing to the growth of the business by consistently providing outstanding customer service and keeping their clients’ goals front of mind. They will be innovative, flexible and approachable.

This award recognizes the individual, company, organization, brokerage, branch or office whose outstanding contribution of time, leadership and financial support over a sustained period of time, beyond normal expectations, has made significant impacts on the receiving causes or communities.

The Specialist Broker of the Year award is open to brokers who can demonstrate that a significant portion of their business is dedicated to offering their clients specialist finance solutions. The winner will have a track record in offering a range or competitive and flexible specialist finance solutions to clients with complex incomes and unique borrowing needs.

The winner of the Mainstream Lender of the Year award will consistently have the best broker and customer outcomes in mind and this will be reflected in the growth of the business over the past 12 months. Nominees should be able to explain how their investment in technology, people, products and processes contribute to servicing the mainstream mortgage market in Scotland.
